In May 2023, the Supreme Court ruled on a court case that (yet again) changed the way Waters of the U.S. are regulated.  Matt will dive into Waters of the U.S., including what they are, why they’re regulated, what the latest ruling means for what is and is not regulated, and how this might effect your projects moving forward. David Yelacic, Adams Environmental, Inc. (AEI) Cultural Resources Program Manager, will discuss Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) as well.

Our Speaker:

 

Matt Kitchen has 15 years of experience in environmental consulting and GIS. He obtained his Master of Natural Resources with an Emphasis in GIS from Oregon State University in 2015 after graduating with his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in 2008. Matt currently serves as Senior Environmental Project Manager with AEI in San Antonio and leads all efforts related to environmental services and GIS for the company. He works closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the Ft. Worth District, permitting dozens of projects through central and south-central Texas. His project work has spanned from the Texas Gulf Coast to Eagle Pass and beyond. Matt is a permitted biologist through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for the endangered golden-cheeked warbler and is pre-certified by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in multiple environmental categories. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife-boss, Sable, and his 5-year-old daughter, Ivy, and playing acoustic gigs around San Antonio on the weekends.
